We were commissioned by Chapel Street Traders Association to create a flexible, modular furniture solution for the inaugural Greville Village Design Market - a brief perfectly matched to our Flotsam furniture.

 

The original Flotsam timber tops were produced from upcycled timber pallets, which we deemed not quite robust enough to stand up to the wear and tear of market days. The 'urban driftwood' of the pallets was therefore superseded by 'suburban driftwood' in the form of spotted gum decking offcuts.

 

The spotted gum provides a highly durable, weather and rot resistant solution to the problem of durability - with the added benefit of the stunning warm tones of the timber providing a contrast to the grungy urban aesthetic of the milk crates. If they survived Chapel St, they can probably survive pretty much anything!
